Alaska Hunting Adventures offers

Alaska Brown Bear & Mt. Goat Hunts

with Sue Entsminger, Alaska registered guide outfitter # 1058

Permitted on Chugach National Forest by the US Forest Service under special use permit

• Brown Bears
• Mountain Goats
• Black Bears
• Brown Bear and Mt. Goat Combination

We operate in a remote area of the lower Copper River. The travel to the hunt area involves traveling by boat on the Copper River  through the wild and scenic Chugach  Mountains full of glaciers and rugged terrain  meandering through glacial-fed river bottoms of the Wrangell St. Elias National Park on one side and the Tonsina Controlled Use Area on the other side .

This area is know for its  spectacular views. The river run  to the hunt area is about 3 hours. Depending on the  circumstances, some hunters are transported by  small aircraft.  The climate is more rainy and  windy than Alaska's interior weather.

Brown bears concentrate on the  prolific Copper River salmon runs. Black bears also inhabit this area.  These bear hunts require a lot of glassing and patience before making the final stalk.

Success is best in the spring. Mountain Goat hunting which occurs in the fall requires some serious climbing into some very steep terrain. The hunt is physically challenging. Most of the time you will be carrying your camp and gear to the hunting areas. Hunters need to be in good physical condition

We set up a comfortable base tent camp, and then travel the river bars to good areas to find the bears.  Sue's fine home cooking is a great reward at the end of a long day of  glassing the country...or bringing home the big guy. Traveling by boat gives us huge area to glass for bears. For goats, we set up base camp, then take spike camps to the goat areas.

We offer spring hunts in late May and early June and fall hunts in late September and early October.
